Luther B. Arnold Scholarship

The Southern Textile Research Conference funds a merit scholarship in the name of Luther B. Arnold, one of the primary founders of the STRC. 

The American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists administers this scholarship.

 The  basic guidelines for scholarship candidates are:

1.  Rising junior or senior in textile-related studies.

2.  Accredited Southern educational organization with specialized interest in textile wet processing and eligible to receive scholarships under Section 117 of the Internal Revenue Code.

3.  Textile field of studies includes work towards a Bachelor Degree in Textile Science, Textile Chemistry, or Textile Engineering.

4.  Recipient shall retain the scholarship until undergraduate graduation, providing that the individual maintains at least a 2.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 in the major course work.

The scholarship is in the amount of $1,500 per year and is awarded in two equal payments prior to the Fall and Spring semester of the student’s junior year or senior year for qualified scholarship expenses as defined in Section 117 of the Internal Revenue Code.
